On May 29 the first workshop Data Analysis for Sustainable Tourism Development Strategies was hosted by the local partner, Tourism Institute, as a webinar. The main topic was the potential of data analysis for the tourism industry in Georgia. The developed technology solutions will help generate valuable insights that will assist government organisations, businesses, and researchers in tourism to develop more sustainable strategies that are based on data and could result in increased profit for all stakeholders.
The presentations were provided by the consortium leaders Arctur from Slovenia and HCL Management from Greece. The webinar then continued into a lively discussion by the key local stakeholders in tourism from the public and private sector: Tinatin Zoidze, chairwoman of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Adjara, who is also the Head of the International Relations Division at Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, Etuna Lomadze, Head of the Municipal Policy Division at the Batumi City hall, David Verulidze, vice-mayor of Kobuleti Municipality, George Bregadze, Head of the Research and Planning Department at the Georgian National Tourism Administration, as well as representatives of National Statistics Office of Georgia, Georgian Railway, political parties, communications commission, company Magticom, one of the major investors in tourism sphere company Tourinvest, media representatives and ordinary citizens. The works under the project are actively proceeding. At the end of the year, the following cycle of the workshops is planned. The second workshop will be a platform for showcasing sustainable tourism development perspectives for the Adjara region based on the Tourism Impact Model assessments.
